Polar’s foundation and racking was selected by Aspin Kemp & Associates to advance Summerside (PEI)’s green energy agenda
Mississauga, ON: 21 April 2022: Polar Racking is pleased to announce they are supplying the foundations and racking to Aspin Kemp & Associates Inc. (AKA) for the Sunbank Project in Summerside, PEI. The project consists of a community microgrid with a capacity of 26.26 MWDC as well as a 10 MW battery energy storage system for which AKA has been selected as the EPC. The Polar team is responsible for supplying and engineering the structural racking for this large ground-mount solar project.
The Sunbank Project is expected to reduce the city’s imports of electricity from 58% to 38%. Furthermore, the development of this sustainable energy infrastructure will generate economic and labor benefits, creating jobs within the community, as well as restoring a clean environment, and cutting annual CO2 emissions by 21,000 tonnes.

This project aligns well with Polar Racking’s strengths as a leading solar mounting supplier that designs and engineers racking systems capable of tolerating high wind and heavy snow loads. Supporting major clean energy initiatives, such as the Sunbank project, aligns closely with Canada’s commitment to the Paris Agreement in reaching net zero emissions by 2050.
