Polar Racking to provide their single-axis tracker, the Axsus Sol-X, to their first two Maryland tracker projects.
Toronto, ON – 1 August 2023: Polar Racking, a leading North American supplier and manufacturer of solar mounting solutions, is pleased to announce today that leading solar developer, UGE, has awarded Polar Racking the supply and construction contract for their Axsus Sol-X single axis tracker for the first two community solar projects (5.5 MW DC) of their Maryland portfolio. This marks Polar Racking’s debut in supplying solar trackers to the state, and the continuance of their partnership with UGE.
Polar Racking is supplying engineering design services and its terrain-following single axis tracker to the two community solar projects located near the town of Oakland, Maryland. The geotechnical engineering is being completed by PRI Engineering. The number of community solar projects reaching construction is expected to increase over the next year following the passing of community solar legislation in April 2023, effective July 1, 2023. Polar Racking is proud to contribute to the advancement of community solar and energy equity in Maryland state.
Polar Racking’s single axis tracker solution was selected for these Maryland solar projects because of its advanced, proven design. The generous terrain-following and automotive-based driveshaft allows the Axsus Sol-X to be installed on challenging sites without the additional cost and environmental impact of grading. With solar development increasing in undulating terrain, such as found in Western Maryland, terrain-following single axis trackers are crucial to increasing the generation of solar energy.
